I’m feeling really energised today, even though it’s 4am and I probably shouldn’t be, but I’ve had the best nights sleep in weeks, I’m on stronger anti-histamines and I’m pretty sure they’ve really kicked in because I’m feeling better than I have in a long time. The joys of allergy season – although this year has been particularly bad, up until now I was struggling to breathe, which for an asthamtic isn’t helpful.
So whilst I’m feeling pretty much on top of the world (doesn’t take much does it?) I thought I’d sit down and get some 2020/2021 goals out there whilst I’m feeling all inspired.
1. To learn photoshop.
Lately I’ve really gotten back into art, more specifically I’ve been teaching myself digital art, and whilst it’s not perfect, I’ve picked it back up fairly well – for me. I was always a lover of art as a child/teen and then when working life started, my creative passions took a back seat and technology leaped forward so I never actually learned or taught myself photoshop or other digital mediums. I’ve managed to get a good handle on Procreate thanks to Skillshare and I’ve just started a course on photoshop (I’m 5 minutes in so can’t really say if it’s helpful or not but it seems like it’s going to be)
If you want 2 months FREE skillshare access you can use my affiliate link. I honestly love this site and have learned so much about blogging/SEO & Keywords and now digital art. I wouldn’t plug it if I didn’t honestly love it.

2. Side Hustle.
I’d absolutely love to turn my blog into a small side hustle within the next year (or so). After 10 years of blogging on and off I think now’s the time I want to take it a bit more seriously. I know the direction I want my blog to go in and feel like now I’m in the right place in my life to make this happen.
I’m not expecting miracles, and there’s a lot of work to put in, but I feel more positive about just going for it than I ever have before.
3. To get my art out there.
These plans are coming along slowly, but they kind of have to. I really want to turn my art into a small business. Something lock down has taught me is that working from home has given me that balance I need, especially with needing to care for mum. It’s been so nice to be here for her when she’s needed me, rather than being at work and worrying about her.
It’s unrealistic at the moment for me to leave my job, but now I have an idea of what I want to do and some sort of plan of how to get there, I’d love to have the bulk of that work done by the end of the year, or at the beginning of 2021.
I’m choosing not to rush into this because I want to do it right, and to make sure that there will be some form of income coming out of it rather than jumping in completely blind.
4. New Car.
In the next year I’d love to buy a new car, not brand new but new to me. I currently drive 17 year old fiat punto that has served me really well, I’ve had no issues so far and for the £550 I paid for it, it’s been a bloody brilliant first car, but I would like to update my car at some point. I’d love a newer Clio which is what I learned in and really enjoyed driving, or something a bit more eco-friendly
5. Savings .
I will admit now that I’ve always been bad with money. As I approach my 30’s it’s suddenly hit me that I should really be saving my money, and tinged with some regret of how much I could have saved by now. I’ve been an idiot with money since I started working at 16 but slowly I’ve started building my savings (little by little). My current goal is to have at least 3 months of my salary saved, which in the grand scheme of things isn’t a massive amount but it’s a start. I’m very nearly out of debt so it’s getting easier to save month by month. It would just be nice to have that security net should I need it.
And there we have 5 of my 2020/2021 goals.
If you want to keep up to date on whether I actually achieve these goals or not, keep an eye on my socials (links below) or you can follow the blog, I’m sure I’ll make posts on some of these when they happen!
Take care, Stay safe.
