Quarantine catch up

8 weeks into lockdown, quarantine, whatever you want to call it. I thought it would be nice to have a little post, and catch up with you. Now I want to know.

How are you doing during Quarantine? How have you been keeping busy?

I’ve gotten to the point now where I can’t wait to get back to work, but at the same time, I’m anxious about the return. I’ve spent so much time shielding myself from the virus and I’m a little anxious that when I go back we’ll be in the same situation.

As I mentioned in my previous “Quarantine chat” I’ve been very fortunate to still have my job, and even more fortunate to still receive full pay. I know not everyone has had the luxury of this so I’m counting myself extremely lucky.

What myself and Nan have been doing is donating food to the local “food bank” (ours is currently closed however the church are accepting donations). We’ve been picking up little extras on our infrequent shopping trips (local only) to donate and dropping them off. It feels good to be doing something to help the local community, even if it’s not much. As my Nan says. It’s something.

If I could afford to pay for somone’s shopping I would but unfortunately I still have a high debt amount at the moment, and finances can’t go unpaid. Once that is paid off I really want to donate to a few charities and pay it forward though. I’m yet to decide which charities, but maybe I could do some sort of catch up post when the time is right. What do you think?

Other than worrying about my return to work, I’ve thrown myself into my blog. I moved over here to WordPress because Wix just wasn’t for me. If I’d followed my own advice (tips for new bloggers), I would have saved a few quid on domain names. Learn from my mistakes!

I’m currently trying to draft as many posts as possible before my return to work just so I can keep up with my chosen schedule (Mon/Wed/Fri 12pm GMT). Not being very successful so far, but I am getting there. I’ve enjoyed finding new people to connect with and it’s something I want to keep up with. It’s something I love about the community. You meet so many supportive people out there, it makes you want to be a part of it.

Announcement time (ish)

1. The week commencing 18th may is #MentalhealthAwarenessWeek. So I’ll have all mental health themed posts that week. The theme this year is Kindness but I’m going to post some different content too.

2. June is #PrideMonth so I’ll be incorporating more lgbtqia+ themed posts into June to celebrate. The theme for that this year is allyship. I have a few ideas rolling around. None set in stone just yet though.

Besides blogging and an unhealthy amount of watched box sets. I haven’t really been up to much else. I’ve appreciated being safe inside my own home and would like to digitally clap all the key workers out there!

I really hope you’re all doing okay and keeping yourselves well.

Take care, stay safe.

Hiya! Great to read that you’re keeping well and even better to read that you’ve kept your job! 👍🏻

I’ve spent my lockdown trying to find a job. It’s tough finding work with a criminal record. I do however have a job interview on Tuesday and I have a good feeling about this one!

My blog has given me something to look forward to once a week and my twitter interaction daily. But all in all I’m just enjoying my freedom at the moment 😊

    1. I think it’s just generally tough finding one at the moment, but I’ve employed people with a record so hopefully it won’t be too much of an issue. Wishing you the best of luck for Tuesday, I’m sure you’ll do great!! 🙂
